Mary King, RN, BSN, IBCLC

Mary King, RN, BSN, IBCLC, founder of LACTATION LIAISON and editor of Breastfeeding Updates newsletter, is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  She has been assisting breastfeeding mothers for 21 years.  Prior to lactation consulting, Mary spent 9 years as a neonatal intensive care nurse beginning at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland.  Mary certified as an IBCLC in 1997 and spent 4 years as a hospital-based lactation consultant before branching off into private practice in 2002.

Mary's extensive background enables her to provide intensive clinical support for the most complex breastfeeding scenarios.  This in combination with her understanding and soft-spoken nature allow her to connect on all levels with her patients.  Her focus is to provide clinical support, education, and encouragement to empower mothers to successfully meet their own breastfeeding goals.  Mary welcomes the opportunity to assist women in learning the skills necessary to successfully initiate and maintain lactation and to overcome obstacles to breastfeeding.
